Why this chair

I could put out a C-grade haircut in thirty minutes. I won't.

This isn't a cut factory. No turnover, no quantity game, no putting a one on the sides and calling it done. Every cut gets the time it actually needs, and that is the whole business model.

Plenty of barbers get through more heads in a day than I do. That's fine. People come to me with the difficult ones, the shapes other chairs won't attempt, and those don't happen on a clock.

I picked up clippers thirty years ago cutting my friends' hair because none of us could afford the barbershop. Got licensed at twenty-six. My mom did hair too, so it always felt like the thing I was supposed to be doing. Eighteen years licensed and I still take it personally when a cut isn't right.

Dale's station. Each tool does something different. The cut decides which ones come off the counter.

“Dale does it right everytime he touches my hair. Every swipe of the clippers is done with patience and precision. Definitely professional 5 star barber from my opinion. Hes the best one in TOWN in Tallmadge and the ONLY barber that I will allow to touch my hair. Anything you want hes got ur back and won’t disappoint!”

“I’ve been a longtime customer of Dale’s, and his haircuts are consistently excellent. The quality and attention to detail never vary, which is hard to find. On top of that, the overall experience is always enjoyable. Dale is friendly, professional, and attentive to any requests you have.”

“I’ve been to a lot of places in the past 2 years trying to find someone who cuts my hair and lines up my beard right. I have been more than satisfied with Dale Tha Barber. His fade game is on point and my line up on my beard is always crispy. He’s a person who takes pride in his work and truly wants his clients to be happy with their cut.”
Nathan S. · Google
“If I could give more than five stars, I would, I was that happy with Dale and his mad skills. My cut turned out better than I ever could imagine, I was beyond words when he was done. Dale is an incredible barber that I would keep as my regular barber but I’m just visiting Akron and leaving soon. Thanks, Dale, you made my day.”
Ross · Haircut, Booksy
“Dale has been cutting my hair for a few months now and I have never had any issues or complaints. He keeps up with the current trends and can do almost anything that you want done with your hair. I’d recommend him to anyone who is looking for a new barber, especially those who are in mid teens and are trying to find a barber that can style your hair the way you’d like. Dale is also super reasonably priced, especially for how long he’s been cutting hair. 10/10”

Before you book

Questions I get asked

Do you take walk-ins?

If a slot is open, yes. Appointments come first, so it depends on the day. Online booking closes twelve hours ahead, which means same-day never shows up there even when the chair is free. If you want today, call (330) 620-4144 and ask.

Where exactly are you? The sign says something else.

33 Erie Rd in Tallmadge, in the plaza. The window says Manly Manes, which is the shop I rent my chair inside. Look for the blue chair, it's the only one in the building. Searching "Dale Tha Barber Studio" in Google Maps brings you to the right door.

How long have you been cutting hair?

Thirty years since I first picked up a pair of clippers, eighteen of those licensed. Started at fifteen cutting my friends' hair because none of us could afford the barbershop.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Yes. Kids are welcome, and there's parking right out front so you're not walking anyone across a lot.

Do you do weddings and groomsmen?

Yes, call and we'll work out the timing. I set group bookings up by phone only, and I don't take checks for them.

What if I need to cancel?

Twenty-four hours notice. Inside that window a cancellation fee may apply to the card on file. Life happens, so call and tell me rather than leaving the chair empty.
